Résumé :
Nouvelle-Zélande, XIXème siècle. Ada, une jeune femme muette, a deux passions : sa fillette et son piano. Elle s'apprête à partager la vie d'un inconnu. A son arrivée, son mari refuse son bien le plus précieux, un piano, qui échoue chez un voisin. Ne pouvant se résigner à cette perte, Ada accepte le marché que lui propose ce dernier : regagner le piano, touche par touche, en se soumettant à ses désirs...
