Sous la plume de Marc Antoine Le Breton, Baron de Bonnemie ( 1653 - 1722), voici les tout premiers textes consacrés à l'île d'O9léron.
Ils avaient d'abord été publiés à part, en mai et septembre 1699, avant d'être regroupés, dès octobre, dans une même brochure.
Le premier, Mémoires ... concernat l'Isle d'Olleron, regroupe connaissances de l'époque sur l'histoire de l'île et de ses principaux suzerains et seigneurs, et en particulier la famille Le Breton.
Le second, Abbrégé historique de l'établissement du Calvisisme en l'Isle d'Olleron, et de la destruction des églises, retrace les débuts de la Réforme et l'hisoire des guerres de religion en Oléron.
Ces textes sont ici présentés sous forme d'une transcription réalisée et annotée par Jean-Marc Binet et Jean-Claude Bonnin au regard du texte d'origine.
